Atmospheric French landscape depicting a rustic house surrounded by lush vegetation and a winding country path in Semur-en-Auxois. Executed in a late Fauvist and Post-Impressionist style with loose, expressive brushwork and a subdued earthy palette. Signed and dated "Brita NORDENCREUTZ – 28" lower right and inscribed "SEMUR-EN-AUXOIS" lower left. Presented in an ornate gilt frame.

Brita Nordencreutz (1899–1982) was a Swedish painter whose artistic expression reflected the modernist movements of the early 20th century. Her landscapes combine the expressive brushwork of Post-Impressionism with the colour sensibility of Fauvism. Her French subjects demonstrate an interest in European landscape painting, emphasizing light, colour and composition rather than naturalistic detail. Her artistic approach also shows stylistic affinities with French modernism, particularly the structured compositional principles associated with André Lhote.
