Bio:
Ulrica Hydman-Vallien (1938–2018) was a Swedish artist, ceramicist and glass designer internationally recognised for her expressive and colourful work. She studied at Konstfack in Stockholm and began working for Kosta Boda in 1972. Her distinctive style features hand-painted motifs of snakes, faces, flowers and imaginative figures, often executed in vibrant colours with spontaneous brushstrokes. The serpent became one of her most recognisable motifs, appearing both as decoration and as an independent sculptural form. Her works remain highly collectible among enthusiasts of Swedish art glass.
