Bio:
Rya is a traditional Nordic weaving technique in which long wool knots are tied onto a woven foundation to create a dense, tactile surface. In Sweden, rya was further developed throughout the 20th century and became prominent in modern textile art and interior design. During the 1960s and 70s, the technique was frequently used for abstract and geometric compositions featuring strong colours and pronounced variations in pile and texture.
