Bio:
The Meissen Porcelain Manufactory was founded in Saxony in 1710 and was the first European producer of hard-paste porcelain. The celebrated Blue Onion pattern was developed around the 1730s, inspired by East Asian porcelain and executed in cobalt-blue underglaze. Its motifs include peaches, melons, bamboo and chrysanthemums, despite its later name referring to onions. The crossed swords have served as Meissen’s distinctive trademark since 1722.
