Bio:
Bertil Gadö (1916–2014) was a Swedish painter, graphic artist and sculptor from Malmö. He studied at Skånska Målarskolan from 1933 to 1935 and became an important figure within the Scanian avant-garde. Around 1950 he was associated with the Imaginisterna group, later moving more distinctly towards Surrealism. His work frequently combines abstraction with enigmatic figurative and symbolic elements and was notably influenced by Max Ernst. Gadö also produced public works in sculpture, relief, stained glass and mosaic. His work is represented in collections including Moderna Museet and Malmö Museum.
