Bio:
Louis Icart (1888–1950) was a French painter, printmaker, and illustrator and is regarded as one of the notable artists associated with the visual culture of the Art Deco period. After moving to Paris in 1907, he worked in drawing, painting, and printmaking and soon received commissions from fashion houses and periodicals. His elegant depictions of modern women, Parisian fashion, and fashionable society became particularly popular during the 1920s and 1930s. Icart worked extensively with etching, drypoint, and aquatint and produced more than 500 graphic works.
