Bio:
Willem “Wim” Bosma (1902–1985) was a Dutch painter, watercolourist, graphic designer and monumental artist from Amsterdam. Largely self-taught, he also received instruction from Piet van Wijngaerdt. Bosma’s work is associated with constructive expressionism and Dutch New Objectivity, while his visual language also reflects the influence of moderate Cubism. During the 1930s he became particularly known for depictions of harbours, railway stations, trains, ships and modern technology, while after 1945 his subject matter broadened to include landscapes and figurative compositions. His work is represented in collections including the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Centraal Museum Utrecht.
