Bio:
Robert Jacobsen (1912–1993) was one of the most internationally recognised Danish sculptors of the 20th century and also worked with painting and graphic art. From 1947, he lived for many years in Paris, where he became part of the international abstract art scene surrounding Galerie Denise René. He became particularly renowned for his iron sculptures, in which line, space and void play a central role, and these characteristic formal principles can also be seen in his graphic works. Jacobsen received the Thorvaldsen Medal in 1967 and held professorships at the art academies in Munich and Copenhagen.
