Bio:
Finn Mickelborg (1932–2007) was a distinguished Danish painter and jazz musician, recognised as one of the leading figures of Danish constructive abstraction. Following an early surrealist phase, he developed a disciplined geometric visual language during his apprenticeship with Bamse Kragh-Jacobsen, characterised by precise compositions, transparent planes, and refined colour gradations. His innovative use of a spray gun produced soft tonal transitions and convincing spatial illusions, giving his works a distinctive sense of lightness and depth. Mickelborg co-founded the artists' group Ny Abstraktion in 1976, joined Grønningen in 1984, and was awarded the Eckersberg Medal in 1988 in recognition of his significant contribution to modern Danish art.
