Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand, stoneware pitcher.
Elegant tall first quality pitcher with fluted body, slender neck and characteristic organic handle, executed in light turquoise-green hare’s fur glaze.
Origin: Sweden.
Designer: Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997).
Material: Stoneware.
Dimensions: H. 28 cm, W. 11 cm.
Period: Mid-20th century.
Condition: Excellent condition with minor signs of wear.
Bio:
Gunnar Nylund (1904–1997) was a Finnish-Swedish ceramicist, designer and sculptor, recognised as one of the most important ceramic designers in the Nordic region. As artistic director at Rörstrand from 1931, he created some of the factory’s most iconic stoneware series, celebrated for their organic forms, refined silhouettes and innovative glazes. His work played a central role in the development of modern Scandinavian ceramics.
