Marc Chagall (1887–1985) was a Russian-French artist and one of the most significant modernists of the twentieth century. His work combines elements of cubism, symbolism, and surrealism in a highly personal visual language marked by dream imagery, love, and religious themes. Chagall worked across multiple media, including painting, printmaking, and stage design, and his richly coloured, poetic style has had a lasting international influence.
