Royal Copenhagen was founded in 1775 in Copenhagen under the patronage of Queen Dowager Juliane Marie. The factory is renowned for its hand-painted underglaze decoration, including the Blue Fluted Plain pattern, introduced the same year and regarded as one of the oldest continuously produced porcelain designs in Europe.
