Bio:
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) was a Swedish ceramic artist and designer, educated at the School of Arts and Crafts in Gothenburg. From 1949 she worked at Upsala Ekeby, where she became one of the company’s leading designers during the 1950s and 1960s. Her work is noted for its bold graphic decoration, drawing on nature, folklore and prehistoric imagery, often expressed through textured stoneware surfaces. Simmulson’s designs are represented in several Scandinavian museum collections.
