Meissen Biscuit plaque, c. 1970s.
Circular relief plaque in white biscuit porcelain with a classical profile portrait and circular inscription, mounted in a wide round wooden frame. Executed as a medallion-like, neoclassical composition, with the matte biscuit surface emphasising the fine modelling and historical character of the portrait.

Origin: Germany.
Material: Biscuit porcelain and wood.
Dimensions: D. 14 cm, Depth 3 cm.
Period: c. 1970s.
Condition: Excellent condition with light, age-related wear.

Bio:
Meissen, founded in 1710, is Europe’s oldest porcelain manufactory and is internationally renowned for its technical mastery and artistic excellence. Biscuit porcelain has formed part of Meissen’s production since the 18th century and is frequently used for portrait and relief plaques inspired by classical and historical models. Its soft, marble-like surface lends these works a sculptural and timeless presence.
