Monumental and rare vase from Simmulson’s sought-after “Atoll” series, distinguished by its striking two-part design: a raw, sandy chamotte surface on the upper half and a deep cobalt-blue glaze on the lower section. The tall, disciplined form enhances the series’ characteristic modern aesthetic. One of the larger and more seldom-seen models.

Bio:
Mari Simmulson (1911–2000) was one of Upsala Ekeby’s most important designers. Her work is recognised for its strong forms, saturated glazes, and distinctive textures. Simmulson’s series from the 1950s and 60s are today among the most sought-after pieces in Swedish ceramics and are collected internationally.
