Short biography of Korean ceramics:
The Korean ceramic tradition spans over a thousand years and is particularly renowned for Buncheong ware and the white porcelains of the Joseon dynasty. Characteristic features include free, lively brushwork in underglaze, often combined with a simple glaze that enhances the decoration. Many works from the 19th century continued to be produced using traditional methods such as wood firing and hand-throwing, giving each bowl its own unique character.
