Pierre Gire (1901-1984), alias Pierre d'Avesn, began working at Rene Lalique at the age of only 14 and stayed for 10 years. During this time, he designed Lalique's famous "Serpent" vase as well as the "Tourbillons" vase, two of Lalique's most expensive and sought-after collector's items. In 1926, he left René Lalique to create his own designs.
