Cylindrical Indonesian Batak magical calendar from Sumatra - possibly also medicine container. The scroll has various tables, motifs and symbols inscribed on bamboo. The table has 30 fields vertically (days) and 12 fields horizontally (months).
A Batak calendar was used by the Batak priest/shaman to find days that were favorable for ceremonies. 20th century.
The Batak calendar, called Porhalaan, is derived from the Hindu Sanskrit calendar.
You can e.g. read more about Batak calendars on the MAAS Museum's website (Museum f Applied Arts & Sciences: https://collection.maas.museum/object/382858
Height approx. 13 centimeters. Good condition. However, I do not know if the roll was originally assembled with another part.
