The clay vessel was found in Fraugde on Funen together with some tools. It has been found on Birkum Mark on a family-owned farm that has now been demolished. Today there is a gravel pit on the site. The property was owned by three siblings, Karen, Gertrud and Peder Madsen, who were never married. Peder Madsen also owned a mill nearby.
The clay vessel was originally misfired and it was later glued together!
