A. Michelsen was founded in 1841 and already exhibited in 1855 as the only Danish silversmith at the World Exhibition in Paris.

In 1985, Georg Jensen acquired A. Michelsen and the company disappeared as an independent name, despite the fact that throughout the lifetime of the workshop they had managed to keep up with the time and deliver high quality items to become the royal court supplier.
