Knitting basket from Einsidelsborg

main

main sub: 1
Højde 8 cm. at the handle.
Diameter 11 cm.

The basket is in beech made on a lathe, like a real piece of cooperage with shaped ribbons and scratches, which should illustrate the wooden pieces of the barrel.

It is round at the bottom, so the bundle of the yarn you would like to lie in the bottom would not jump out when you pulled the string that had been pulled through the one eye.

Underneath is written Einsidelsborg, a longer unreadable word and Mon Amie translated into My friend.

Einsidelsborg is a Danish manor house on North Funen, near Agernæs and Bogense.

Egebjerggaard was known as Einsidelsborg for many centuries. In 1810, Egebjerggaard entered the county of Roepstorff together with the manor house, Kørup.

Egebjerggård was a breeding farm for the manor house Kørup from the 15th century. In the middle of the 17th century, Henrik Podebusk laid more land to the farm and set it up as a estate under the name Einsidelsborg. The new farmhouse was handed over to his youngest son and was elevated to countship in 1676.
In 1716, Einsidelsborg was reunited with Kørup mainor again, since the owner had no heirs. The owner family also got many properties in Germany and therefore moved to Pomerania, while Einsidelsborg was allowed to decline.

In 1781, the properties were sold to the Lord Chamberlain A. G. Moltke, who corrected for the decline and made the agriculture much more efficient. Later, the farms and lands were sold to the former Governor General of the Danish West Indian, William de Roepstorff. Einsidelsborg and was then part of the Countship of Roepstorff.
In 1921, Einsidelsborg switched to free property and in 1931 changed its name to Egebjerggård. Carpet manufacturer Mads Eg Damgaard bought the estate in 1963,
