Biography :
Carl Halier (1873–1948) was a German-Danish ceramicist who played an important role in the development of Danish stoneware. He was educated in Copenhagen and Paris and worked at the Royal Copenhagen factory, where he continued the Japanese-inspired stoneware tradition after Patrick Nordström.
In 1926, he founded Københavns Stentøjsbrænderi (the Copenhagen Stoneware Workshop) together with Arne Bang and later returned to the factory, where he worked until his death. His works are known for their simple forms and refined glazes and have had a significant influence on Danish ceramic design.
