Tapestry / wall hanging flat weave rug by Swedish textile artist and weaver Ingegerd Silow.
The rug is woven with wool on cotton and features a beautiful motif with a city view with city houses, a church or town hall and a wood in the backgournd.
The rug is signed "IS" in the right lower corner for Ingegerd Silow.
The top of the rug is folded, so the rug can be hung on the wall - the stick is missing.
Length approx. 100 centimeters, the fringes included
Width approx. 56 centimeters
Excellent condition with very small signs of wear - e.g. some wear to the fringes (see picture).
Ingegerd Silow was a Swedish textile artist, born 1916 in Stockholm, dead 2005.
She studied at Högre Konstindustriella Skolan in Stockholm (see picture here: https://digitaltmuseum.se/011014692872/hogre-konstindustriella-skolan), School of Design in Copenhagen, as well as at Handarbetets vänners Vävskola (a school of weaving: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Handarbetets_vänner), Stockholm plus at Stockholm City and Läns Hemslöjdsförening.
She received industrial practice in Borås and was employed as a pattern designer for Swedish Hemslöjd, Stockholm, Hemelöjdsförbundet for Sweden and Heyman & Olesen, Stockholm.
As a freelance she has made collections of curtains, blankets, and carpets.
